Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

Ziwa Rhino and Wildlife Ranch is the home of the only white rhinos in Uganda. The sanctuary is conveniently located in Nakasongola district, 176km from Kampala on the Gulu Highway heading north towards Murchison Falls National Park. This wildlife ranch is a popular destination for tourists looking for adventure. Aside from white rhinos, the sanctuary has over 300 species of birds. It also offers nature hikes, night-time nature walks, a shoebill trek & canoe ride.

Itinerary

Take a one-day excursion to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, Uganda’s only wild rhino sanctuary. Departing from Kampala or Entebbe, enjoy a scenic drive to the sanctuary, followed by an unforgettable rhino trekking experience. Walk alongside trained rangers and encounter these majestic animals up close in their natural habitat—a unique adventure perfect for a short getaway.

Morning

Your guide will pick you up at 7:00 AM and give a short briefing on the day’s adventure.
Depart for Nakasongola on a scenic 4-hour drive, with brief stops for photos en route.
Arrive at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary in the late morning and enjoy fun moments trekking rhinos along with great photo opportunities.
Later, you’ll head to Kabalega Diner for lunch.

Afternoon

Enjoy a relaxing and delicious lunch.
After lunch, begin the return journey to Kampala, with a stop for souvenir shopping along the way.
Arrive back in Kampala by evening, concluding your adventure.
