Best time to visit
Rwanda can be visited all year. The drier months, roughly June to September and December to February, are generally easiest for hiking, trekking and travel by road. Wetter months bring greener hills and muddier trails.

- If you travel by road from Kampala, allow time for the border crossing.
- Gorilla and golden monkey trekking need permits, which are limited, so book early.
- The Genocide Memorial is a sober visit, so allow time and go in a respectful frame of mind.

How many days do I need in Rwanda?
Three days is enough to see Kigali. Allow four to six days to add Lake Bunyonyi or combine Rwanda with Uganda.
